christmas trees- the enviroment

One of the blogs I’ve read about enviromental problems and recycling is one about Christmas trees. I know that on Christmas, I’ve always had a fake tree instead of a real one because of the cost. What good is a real tree if your only going to use it for only one day and then throw it out? It’s kind of like Halloween, you only buy a costume for one day of the year and then after Halloween, you throw it out because you probably won’t fit into it the next year.

In the website, it says that fake christmas trees are more dangerous than real ones. That was surprising for me because I always thought that if we used fake trees we would save our enviroment. It said that fake christmas trees start fires, on it’s own. Fake trees are made out of  PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The PVC in fake trees cause cancer and causes other dangers. But real trees are recyclable.

This website surprised me because I just always thought artificial trees were better to use, but in the website it said that even though we may think that artificial trees are better, they bring danger to the family inside the house. Plus, real trees are also recyclable so we really benefit from real trees. We get a christmas tree without a fire starting, and we help the enviroment.
